Double Standard?

It seems to me like it is becoming increasingly more difficult for female newscasters to make their mark. Have you ever noticed that women that work as a news caster is expected to be very attractive, but we do not have those expectations for men? It seems like women have to try harder to give the audience what they are looking for. When we turn on the news, we often see above average looking women reading the news. Men? Well, they just show up with their wrinkles, balding heads, and big goofy glasses( see Larry King). I'm not saying that those types of men should not be on the news-there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting old. They are extremely talented people that just happen to be lucky enough to get into the business. I just think that it is harder for women to gain this type of respect ( like Larry King) if they are not "picture perfect". They should be noticed for their skills, and not the way that they look. More and more women that work as newscasters are getting obvious cosmetic surgery done. Hmm, I wonder why?
